ENT Appointment

We spent 2 hrs at Avery's appt yesterday at Children's Mercy. They sent us down to have her hearing retested first since it had been over 6 months since the last test. Her hearing had not decreased any so they said that was good. Her left ear is fine, normal hearing. In her right ear she has what is called moderate to severe high frequency sensorineural hearing loss. (i think i spelled that right) They said her speech discrimination is good and that her good ear should compensate for the loss of hearing in her right ear. They want to do a cat scan on her (June 11) to check all of the inner ear bone structure and if everything looks normal they can assume it is hereditary and not something causing the hearing loss after birth (rule out any type of cyst or anything like that he said, lots of medical terms....) We are to have her hearing tested annually and he wants to see her next yr but then will only have to see audiology after that. The only things he said she may have trouble with if her hearing stays as it is now is later on, determining what direction sounds are coming from. They want us to get Ethan tested since he failed his initial screenings as well so that is on our list of things to get done this summer... I was more than ready to get out of there when we were finally done and we get outside to it downpouring!! We were drenched rats by the time we got to the van to say the least :) Fun day...

"Pweeese"

Ethan says "pweeese" (please) now and it is so cute. He scrunches up his nose when he says it. He says thank you to0. (kinda sounds like "tink yu") His other words are "more", "Tay" (Trey), "No Way" , "daddyyy" , and "ma-ma". Oh yea and also "bankee" (blankie) and "rain". So he is slowly but surely adding some words to his vocabulary:) He is a busy boy as always, he was sitting on the couch with a snck bowl of cheerios a little while ago, while i was on the computer being so quiet and when i turned around he was just sitting there tossing them all over the floor, not a one in his bowl. Our plan is to get the toddler bed down this week to make the change, i told Johnny last night i was half tempted to just get another crib, but he said no way, he will do fine. i want to do it in plenty of time before Johnny leaves the country so that i don't have to deal with that all by myself:) Today we are headed to Children's Mercy for Avery's Ent appt. After her failed hearing test we were supposed to see an ENT and are just now getting around to it. Avery keeps us hopping with dr's appts!

We are only 6 days into summer break. When does school start again???? :) Trey and Avery get on each other's nerves with just about everything the other one does. Yesterday it was arguing in the car, Avery wanted to count certain colors of cars, and Trey was arguing 'can't we just look at the nature"??? Avery has been banned from any tv watching today becasue she decided to argue with mommy over whether a show was ok to watch or not yesterday. Ethan's naps have gone ok so far, it's very hard in this small house, but i usually just have Trey and Avery watch a movie for awhile, read books or play quietly in daddy and mommy's room. Ok enough rambling...

Can't Sleep...

I am getting to that point of having trouble sleeping. After tossing and turning for about 45 minutes, i gave up and came out to the computer. I just can't seem to get comfortable in our bed at this point of pregnancy (it's too soft, the couch is much firmer) I don't think the heartburn from the buffalo wings i ate at work is helping matters either:). The weekend flew by, Friday afternoon we did lawn work and then went out to dinner to celebrate our anniversary (12 yrs last Sun) but we hadnt had a chance to celebrate yet. We went to our all time favorite, Jose Peppers, and then went to Walmart and wandered around. Sat. Trey had another soccer game, he has gotten so much more aggressive throughout this season. He almost made a goal but the goalie stopped it. When we tell him each week to go after that ball and take it to the goal, he informs us " it sounds easy to do, but it's just not that easy!" He has really been working hard at it though, we are proud of you Trey! Today we went to the early service at church and then came home and took naps (mabye that's why i can't sleep) That pretty much sums up the weekend.

Schools Out!!

Tuesday was Avery's last day of kindergarten and today was Trey's last day of 2nd grade. We are officially on summer break. The kids are counting the days till we go to Colorado. They cannot wait to go hiking! We will see how well i do keeping up with them with this big belly! We have a very busy summer planned! Trey will be getting his tonsils out the first week of June and then later in June is our Colorado trip with my entire side of the family minus Johnny :( ,to celebrate my Mom and Dad's 40th wedding anniversary. He will be staying home and holding down the fort since he will be heading to the Phillippines for a basketball missions trip later. He is very excited about that, and i am excited for him that he will be able to have that experience one more time. And then if everything goes as planned we will be ending our summer or i should say starting our school year off with our big celebration of an addition to our family. (Raegan is due the week school starts)Anyway, there should be lot's of good times and memories made. I'm looking forward to it.

Right now we are having a bit of a glitch with the switch of computers and downloading pics, so you will have to read my babblings without any photos for a bit.

Computer Speed!!!

Oh my goodness i don't even know what to do with my self. Our computer is moving lightning speed (normal dsl speed i'm sure), you have to understand what we were dealing with (extreme slowness)! We had some viruses awhile back that had just about done our computer in. We have a "new to us" computer that my brother-in-law got us all set up on. THANKS Greg!! I'm sorry i might go crazy with posts for awhile, bear with me. It's going to be fun zipping through them and not having to wait 10 minutes for everything to load!

Wanna Be Like Daddy...

Ethan dug through Johnny's bag and got his basketball shoes and has been wearing them ever since. He has been clonking around the house bouncing the ball and saying "basketball" (in Ethan babble language). We are beginning to understand a few words here and there.

Little Bit Of Everything

No pics today, my camera memory car dis full and i need to get to the store to get it unloaded. I really need to buy a memory card with more pics. I don't trust our computer enough to delete the pics from the camera, and i don't want to lose any pics! What a busy weekend! Sat was hectic, i had the kids up and out the door to go to Trey's 9 am soccer game (Johnny had to go work on his side job) only to get there and be told it was scheduled wrong and the game was now at 1 pm. I worked a few hrs at the dr's office for another lady on Sat afternoon before going to Chilis that evening. I think it is about time to give up my closing shifts because the evening wears me out enough without having to do all the cleaning at the end! Sunday evening i got my rear end kicked at Chilis, i have a section with 10 tables on Sunday nights, and every one of them was filled so i was running my tail off!! It paid well in the end though. I had a dr's appt on Monday. Raegan is doing good (getting quite aggressive with the kicking i might add! I have gained 19 lbs so far. Yikes, i'm sure i will probably hit 40 just like my othere pregnancies. I just hope this little girl doesn't want to outdo her sister in size (9.2 lbs) ! I wouldn't mind having a 7 pounder for a change! Avery had a day of shots yesterday, she had to get her second booster for chickenpox becasue they require that now and then started her allergy inj ysterday afternoon. She was a very big girl, i was proud of her! They had a meeting with us and taught us how to use epi pens, and a whole lot of other info. Anyway that's been what we have been up to this past weekend.

Avery's Field Day

Avery's class had their field games from 1-3 pm. We ran home at 11:15 this morning and got something to eat and then headed back to school for the afternoon. Avery was already tired from playing outside all morning so she is completely exausted this afternoon. It was plain HOT this afternoon! Ethan napped in the stroller awhile for me this afternoon. I think the kids will all sleep really well tonight, and i think i will too because i'm beat! Avery has 6 days left of kindergarten, i can't believe it is almost summer break.

Trey's Field Day

Today was field day at school. Trey's class had theirs from 8:45 to 11, so we all got up and got ready before school and stayed for the morning. It was a beauiful warm morning, the kids all looked exausted by the end. There were 11 different field games that they played all morning. Trey has 8 more days of 2nd grade.

Raegan's First Gift

Yes, for those of you with an eye for detail we are spelling Raegan's name differently. This is how we plan to spell it now. I had been going back and forth since we had decided on the name and right now this is what I like, i guess i have 3 months before i have to make the final decision. Johnny says "i don't care how you spell it, so he is not a lot of help in the decision making. A lady in our church (Twyla, for those of you her know her) made this adorable dress for her. She had brought some pattern books a while back and let us pick out a pattern that we liked and believe it or not Johnny picked out the COLOR! He didn't want any pink for Avery when she was a baby, but he obviously has had a change of heart. Guess that is what having a little girl will do to you. Anyway, a big thank you to Twyla Kitchen for this sweet little dress, we love it!

Starting Shots

Avery had an appt with a new allergist yesterday afternoon. I'm switching them over to specialists at the dr office where i work because i just recently realized that we do not have to pay copays for specialist visits either (we never have had to for reg visits but assumed we did with specialists). As much as we have to visit the dr $35 a pop can add up quickly and i was worried about being able to afford allergy shots, thus the switch... Anyway, the allergist wants to get her started on the shots within the next week or two. She is doing awesome on her meds for her asthma right now and (knocking on wood as i say this) we haven't had to do a breathing treatment in over a month now, and have had NO coughing at night!! That is huge! I am picking up a peak flow meter at the pharmacy this afternoon that they ordered for her. They want us to do a test daily and record all of her symptoms daily to keep track of her breathing patterns. This allergist is optimistic that the injections will help her eczema and not aggrivate it, which has been mentioned to us as a concern in the past. She actually is doing pretty well with the eczema right now, but has one ankle that she is severe right now and just getting over an infection on that ankle. For the first year she will go once a week and get an injection in each arm, and then the 2nd yr hopefully only every other week and so on...the goal being to get her to be able to function without being on all her meds!! She is actually excited to start the shots, because she knows that this may help her. We have hopes that this will really help her and that someday she may be able to play outside without coming inside because she is miserable!!

Summersault Boo Boo

Ethan did a summersault off the back porch today. I saw it happening and got there right as he landed, he was already in the full blown, need to stop and breathe kind of cry! Poor guy scraped his nose and hit his head, but other than that was ok. He wanted to be held for a long time and then once he calmed down i sat him in this chair so i could finish in the kitchen. I came out to check on him about 3 minutes later and he was sacked out! The whole ordeal wore him out!

Awana Grand Prix

Last night was the kids Awana Grand Prix. Daddy had their cars shining! Trey won the 1st place trophy for design. Avery's car was a speedy little thing, it beat every other car than one in every heat. She was eating up all the high fives! For some reason Trey's car ended up winning 2nd place trophy for speed, but the good big brother that he is, he awarded that tropgy to his sister because he said she actually won. It was fun watching all the excitement of the kids and then we got to go up and have popcorn and sno-cones. The kids have one more actual night of Awanas and then the awards ceremony.
