South Padre Island

We returned safely home tonight from our weeks vacation in South Padre Island, TX. It was a very fun vacation! We fit a lot into a weeks time. Greg &Susan and their 4 kids and our family all went in a 15 passenger van. We had 4 dvd screens and lots of movies to keep the kiddos busy. They all did awesome!! Ethan was a very good little traveler for us! On Monday we went to the beach, on Tuesday we went to Schlitterbaum sp? water park. It was a big loop of moving water and you could just exit into entrances of many different water slides with you innertube. Ethan fell asleep for his morning nap while waiting in one line and slept down the whole slide until at the end when daddy and him hit the water he woke up looked around and then went back to sleep. On Wednesday we went to Don and Roberta's and i will make another post about that with more pics after this or this will get too long. On Thursday we got up bright and early and Johnny and Greg went parasailing first while the girls stayed with the kids and then susan and i went parasailing. It was really neat, i have been wanting to do that for awhile. We both got a little freaked out when it got a little windy while we were up there and Susan was so kind as to mention that she thought we would probably die if we fell and hit the water:) Johnny and Greg and Caleb and Brendon spent some time surfing and the girls spent some time at the pool. On Friday we went on a dolphin watch boat ride and saw lots of dolphins and then we spent the rest of the day at the beach. Don and Roberta came down and spent the day with us on Friday. We ended the week with watching fireworks off the bay (which was Ethan's first fireworks show and he slept through the whole thing). Ethan brought in his top two front teeth the day we left on vacation and the day we got to the hotel he took off crawling! So as you can imagine he is a very busy boy now! It was an awesome vacation and it was fun being able to spend a week with Greg & Susan and their kids (the cousins had lot's of fun!) Now i get to spend another week unpacking!!

Big Brother Wrapped Around Ethan's Finger

Johnny taught Trey and Avery the only way they are allowed to pick Ethan up. Trey carries him around alot, whenever Ethan fusses here come Trey carrying him to mommy "he wanted you mommy" or "he wants to be with the rest of the family". soo... Ethan has figured out that he's got Trey on his side to spoil him rotten. I watched it happen this morning. He fusses to Trey till Trey picks him up and then he fusses and put's his hands to mommy like "take me to her now". I love seeing Trey with his little brother though, it is so sweet to see how he treats him. He prayed the other day that Ethan would get saved when he got bigger. It will be neat to see Trey hopefully and prayerfully be a good example for his little brother.

Avery's New Hairstyle

Ever since we saw the movie "Chronicles Of Narnia" Avery has wanted her hair cut like "Lucy" the littlest girl. She pretended she was Lucy for quite some time after the movie including wanting us to call her "Lucy", wearing her "lucy" shoes (ones like Lucy wore in the movie, and wearing a sweater everyday just like Lucy's. I decided that before vacation we would get her hair cut, so today we went and had it done. I even decided to have some layers put in. Avery loves it and looks in every mirror we pass admiring her new do. Now we are just waiting on daddy to get home and hope that he likes it because he doesn't know that we did it or how short we went. I'm sure he will like it, because he had suggested putting some layers in it awhile back and i was the one to not go for the idea. I stayed back by Avery when she got it cut today, and afterward she said next time "you can wait out in the front next time mommy" oh my girl is growing up! Trey, my little sentimental guy grabbed a lock of her hair and held onto it, and gave it to me when we got to the car.

My New Sippy

Ethan figured out how to drink out of a sippy cup today. We have been trying it out off and on in a regular sippy cup but he would just bite on it. I bought one today that is a straw type but still spill proof and he got the hang of it right away.

Avery has a style all her own!:) And then there is our little "jedi" Trey.

Ready To Be On The Move!

Ethan wants to move very badly! He get's very frustrated and wants to get to things but just can't quite do it yet. He get's in the position where he could take off, but his one leg always gives him problems.:0) He acted like he was mad at his leg today, he was grabbing it and pulling at it, was pretty cute. Trey scooped in to save him because he doesn't like to see him frustrated.

Just Hanging Out

Today we spent the afternoon outside playing in the sprinkler getting some sun. After that I decided we needed to do a thorough cleaning of the kids rooms where we clean out the toy boxes and put everything where it actually belongs.:) This always wears the kids out! Trey zips through his room pretty quickly and sorts everything, Avery on the other hand get's very overwhelmed when i dump out just one of her toy baskets. She is a pakrat and her idea of cleaning is shoving everything to the walls or in her closet!! They moved Ethan back and forth from their rooms every 5 minutes, this seemed to help them keep working if they got to do that:) They were finally all done and hanging out in Trey's bed.

WORN OUT!

Oh goodness this crew is wearing me out! We are watching Emma, a 2 yr old of some friends of ours from church while they are on a cruise. We have had her since Sunday. I forgot what it was like to have a 2 yr old and a baby:) They are keeping me on my toes. Trey and Avery are doing well at keeping her entertained though. Ethan has been sick and very fussy and wanting to be held constantly. Last night when it was bedtime for all the kids and Ethan was crying, Johnny said why don't you take him on a drive and get him to sleep and get out of the house for a little bit, so i went to Sonic and drove around till Ethan fell asleep then went back home and the 3 other kids were sound asleep! I stuck Ethan in bed and we went to bed too. Today my goal is to get my shower before noon and keep the house from being totally trashed. It wouldn't be bad at all if Ethan was his normal happy self but i'm not sure what is going on with him but he is not a happy camper! :)

Trey Get's Baptized

Trey got baptized on Sunday. He has not wanted to do it because he was scared (and asked me periodically if he would still go to Heaven if he did not get baptized :) I assured him he would and that he could do it when he was ready)About a week and half ago he decided he was ready and was extremely excited about it! Grandpa Seaba was the one who baptized him. It was an exciting day!

Kissing The Baby In The Mirror

Ethan get's so excited when we put him in front of the mirror. He wants to play with that other baby. He kept trying to give that "other" baby kisses the other day. It was cute! He is getting very close to moving. From the sitting position he get's all the way so that he could take off crawling but instead of getting on his knees he falls onto his tummy and then just get's frustrated. i don't think it's going to be very long though now and he will have it figured out!

"Omega Day"

Yesterday was Trey's last day of school, which they call Omega Day. They divide the elementary into 4 teams (each team get's a different color shirt) and they play field games all morning (awana games, obstacle courses, water balloons ect.) Then they head back to school to sign each others shirts and say their goodbyes It was an emotional day for mommy as i watched him say goodbye and hug his 5 buddies that he has been with the last two years at Berean. We are now officially on summer vacation!! It was really nice this morning not having to get up and get out the door by 7:30! I may be heading to the dr with Trey though because he is complaining of a sore throat. Could it be... Let me guess... strep??? I wouldn't doubt it, so anyway since it's very likely, i need to get him started on antibiotic if that is the case!

See My Teeth??

Ethan has his 2nd tooth. Two teeth in 4 days = a very cranky boy. Poor guy just isn't liking this teething thing! I don't know if they are very clear in the picture or not but he was trying to show his new teeth off along with making quite the mess at dinner! And i know he doesn't look very cranky at dinner. He is just fooling you! :)

11 Years!

Today is our 11 year anniversary. We had a very full day! The kids started out their day building a "house" in the kitchen and Ethan wanted to be a part of that as well. He really likes his new ability to move around in his new walker. Today was Trey's last soccer game so there was a pizza party before the game where they got their awards and then the game this afternoon in which i was very proud of Trey because he had a couple of good saves and he hustled the whole game! We packed the kids up to go to Grandma's house for the night and headed out to clean the church. Johnny and i enjoyed a nice relaxing evening eating WAY to much at Red Lobster and seeing a movie. Yes it's way too easy getting ready to go out without kids so we had a little time on our hands so we decided to have a little photo shoot in our backyard. :) It's been a good 11 yrs. Johnny always keeps me laughing. We both feel so blessed with the family God has given us!

Stylin My Hair

Ethan thought he'd style his hair a little this morning. Last night he didn't act like he felt very good and felt feverish . This morning i felt the top of one of his bottom teeth just breaking through so that's why he was crabby last night i guess. Today he has had a fever all day and won't take his bottles so it must be bothering him quite a bit. He is still pretty happy most of the time but he wants to chew on something constantly and if you take it away he cries.

Awana Awards

Last night was the last night for Awanas, and the kids got their awards. Avery got an award for finishing her third yr book in cubbies (she started cubbies early). Trey got an award for finishing his first yr book in Sparks. Our pictures did not turn out good at all but i will post them anyway.

Yummy!

I gave Ethan a biter biscuit tonight and he loved it, and made quite the mess with it. He's starting to want food whenever he sees us eating. I gave him a french frie the other day then took it away cause he gagged a little. I know mean mommy, but it made me nervous. Trey and i shared a bowl of strawberries with sugar and while daddy was cutting some more up Trey saw some white stuff on the counter and thought he would eat up that sugar we spilled "oops Trey that's not sugar that's powdered formula i spilled" after a little spitting in the trash can he was just fine.

New Hair Fashion

Not sure why Avery has tights on her head and i didn't even ask! Trey was chasing her with his lightsabers and his Bibleman cape and she is running around with tights on her head...not quite sure what they were playing, but i made her stop for a second so i could take a picture.

Corporate Challenge

Johnny's company participated in the Corporate Challenge this yr. One of his events he entered was a 5k run, which was this morning. We were up bright and early. It was a perfect day for a race. Everyone was talking about how hilly it was when we got there, and sure enough Johnny said it was a very hilly course and the whole last mile was uphill. Yuck! He did great! Being there made me want to get back into running the road races!

Spring Soccer

Trey has been playing soccer the last 6 weeks. He loves it! Two other boys from Berean play on his team. Trey and Seth (on the left) are the youngest two on the team. Trey's two favorite sports right now are golf, running and soccer. He ran a mile with me the other day and it brought back memories for me of running with my younger brother John when he was pretty young, probably a bit older than Trey but still young. He's pretty competitive, towards the end he said "i bet i can beat you home mommy" , so i took off and was beating him and he stopped and said "ok, stop i don't want to race" :)

7 Months Old Today

Ethan is 7 months old today. My how time flies!! At 8 months Avery was walking, but Ethan seems to be quite content doing nothing but sitting :) He rolled over once and once only and has no interest in doing that again. We can't keep him on his tummy long enough without him getting mad to get into any type of crawling position. He is such a happy baby, i hold him for some of his bottles but for some i let him hold them while i get a few things done. He's so funny he grabs that thing like he can't get it in his mouth fast enough and then bonks his forehead and his nose before finally getting it in his mouth. He doesn't miss any meals, as you can tell by his tummy! I could just kiss and hug him all day :)

My What Big Teeth

Johnny's dad gave us this binky when Ethan was really little and he couldn't keep it in his mouth then. We found it the other day and Trey and Avery just giggle...

Garage Sale Find

Well today was a very busy Saturday! I had a ladies seminar at our church starting at 8:30 this morning till 4:00, so Johnny had a day planned with him and the kiddos. He was up and out the door the same time as me and headed to the Gardner city-wide garage sales. His goal for the day was to find a tank for "master yoda" our pet aquatic turtle named by Trey:) We got our little turtle last July when we went to Myrtle Beach and he has lived in a small case that we bought him in and kept under Trey's lamp for heat. He has grown and we have been looking at tanks but with all that we needed- tank, filter heater stand it added up and was a bit pricier than we could afford. Sooo... sure enough he found everything he needed today at a garage sale!! So "master yoda" got all moved in to his new home tonight. The kids of course found some buys themself (mommy made sure they had lots of quarters to spend today) so here they are with all of their buys. They all had a fun day and of course it made it fun when they found EXACTLY what they were looking for!

Kindergarten Round Up

Avery had kindergarten round up today. The teachers played and colored with her while mommy filled out lot's of paperwork. She had a fun time and i was very impressed with the teachers. We don't know if we will be going to this school or not as they only have all day kindergarten and we had only wanted her to go to half day, so we have to decide if we want to transfer them both to another school in Olathe or if we want to just try out this school and send her all day. Decisions decisions.....

Look what i can do

I can hold my own bottle! This is something my older brother and sister never did, so my mommy is pretty proud of me. I do really good unless my sissy comes and dumps a whole bucket of hot wheels out beside me and scares me half to death with all the noise, then i drop the bottle. I tell ya gotta love those sisters!

What a helper!

I found Avery being quite the helper this morning. She was in the garage (where our washer and dryer is) she had already taken all the clothes out of the dryer and had them in the laundry basket and was transferring the load from the washer to the dryer and even had put a dryer sheet in! I was very impressed! I went to take a picture but "someone" took the batteries out to listen to their 24 hrs worth of Star Wars on cd. :) :)
